My absolute favourite Nanna
recipe is crispy bacon, peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches on brown bread cut
into four wee squares and wrapped in kitchen paper. Pop them into a wee hamper
with a thermos of hot sweet tea, melamine cups in strange 70s hues of mustard,
sludgy green and brown, add some kind of yummy cake and stop anywhere and everywhere
to enjoy a trip down memory lane picnic.
If you could sing negro
spirituals en route and wear a modecum of tartan all the better.
She would be tickled pink
to be with us in spirit at all these happy picnics and she so is, we did one
the other day and my first bite of salty bacon, peanut, crunchy goodness
brought her right there with us by a river in Wiltshire.
